"One of the most Taboo topic in India"
"On the occasion of World Menstrual Hygiene Day"
Why do women feel a sense of embarrassment and shame to talk about Menstruation(Periods) and Menopause?
Why were they taught to hide their Periods?
What's there in it to feel ashamed to talk about it?
why our women are not comfortable saying the word Menstruation?
What led to this condition? Thus who is responsible for this? why is it so?...........endless questions :)
In this patriarchal society, men were considered to be more powerful than women and by default, he holds predominance in the rule and control over women. Whereas now the country has slowly started moving out of this bad system. So, consequently, women are being provided more opportunities and good platforms where they can express and showcase their power & most of them are really using these opportunities and growing high to the sky. It's not a strange fact to say that women are powerful, it's Historically, biologically, mentally, Scientifically, and physically proven truth.
Women are way stronger than men in many different aspects. Firstly, women are champions when it comes to life expectancy. As per the data out of the 43 people in the world who've made it past the age of 110 years, 42 are women. So, this shows women tend to live longer than men due to their complex interaction with biology, environment, and social factors. Secondly, when it comes to emotions, stress, management, pains they're masters in it. where men still strive to learn from them. And Lastly needless to mention women are the most intelligent sex we have on this planet.
Now lemme come to the topic, You're a woman so it's natural to have Menstruation and Menopause. Then why it's unnatural to talk about it openly? What's the hidden fact or funda behind hiding this natural phenomenon?
Women are so intelligent they use some code words to convey this to their peoples with who they are comfortable sharing, From 'Auntie Flo' to 'Time of the month', how many ways can you avoid, escape by saying the simple word 'Period'? Whereas now the matter of concern is what ultimately stops women from expressing this. As far as spirituality, divinity, and historical backgrounds are concerned Periods are often considered impure, and perhaps it's in rigorous practice in the Hindu religion in India. People are so unscientific and superstitious that they don't allow women to enter their house if they are caught experiencing periods. They will be asked to stay out of home for 3 days and they have to take a bath multiple times and the more bizarre thing is women are not allowed to speak to any men until they finish these 3 days of period time. It's so inhuman and unbelievable thing that takes part in some rural part of our nation. And most importantly when it comes to hygiene they are mishandled and ill-treated during this period's time. Okay! we believe that rural peoples are less educated and not aware of all these matters. But what's happening with the so-called intellectuals in our society?
"The bad misconception that women are having that having a period is impure, unholy, irreligious, and hellish". And the worst thing that is happening is, this is being taught to the upcoming and growing generation. Women are advised not to share this matter with anybody and forced to maintain secrecy. Thus, indirectly part of her liberty and Fundamental right has been snatched from her. Mainly our system has failed to the core to educate women about this matter, and most importantly men. Our children must know what condition his/her sister, mother, wife is going through.
And also they must be taught how to handle them when they're facing this.
Discrimination against menstruating women is widespread in India, where periods are considered impure and irreligious. They often excluded from social and religious events. Entry into temples, shrines, and even kept out of the kitchen and from their own house.
It's really a bad fate of our disgustingly filthy system that our so-called educated women are encouraging this bad practice of hiding a very natural phenomenon. So, the best way forward to abolish this bad system is to educate everyone equally. And create awareness among the peoples by organizing some programs where they can teach people about hygiene and some myths.
